By now, any car enthusiast knows that Ricers can be defined depending on the questions ‘who?’ and ‘What?’. Today, we focus on the ‘what?’ and we are not about to classify enthusiast, so relax. The debate on the differences between Tuners and Ricers has been in existence for a long time now. Despite the various attempts to distinguish this two, there is still so much confusion (mostly because some people take the discussion to heart and classify any car that they do not really like as a Ricer) and the intention of this article is to break down the major differences in the simplest manner possible .I hope you’ll be able to appropriately distinguish these two well by the end of the article.
Tuners are factory-built with great performance in mind. Ricers on the other hand are made in parking spaces and garages. They are body kits, JDM parts, wheels, spoilers and other parts put together. In short, Turners are loved and very cool, but ricers have no performance value and are crappy-they generally suck. The most they have are stickers and body kits.

Turn 14, a performance parts distributor, has once again declared its sponsorship of Dai Yoshihara in the 2016 edition of the Formula D program. All the enthusiasts and followers of Formula DRIFT series and the famous Japanese driver know that Turn 14 Distribution has been backing Daijiro up for a long time in the drifting program. This partnership has been in place for four years now and they once again want to extend the period by sponsoring him together with his Subaru BRZ.
Daryl Sampson, the Director of Marketing for Turn 14 Distribution reported that the company is pleased to extend and continue their partnership with Dai. He also proved his confidence in the driver as a proven winner, a champion and one of the most popular drivers of the sport.
This year, just like in 2015, Yoshihara’s BRZ will have a livery branded by Turn 14.It will also have a custom-built LS engine- 7.8litre, turbocharged. It will also have rear-wheel horsepower of well over 950.
Yoshihara’s championship has been undoubtedly proven since 2004; he has, in nine races, finished in the top ten, this is inclusive of his 2011 championship run.
The Formula-D schedule of eight races, kicks off on April 8th and 9th in the streets of Long Beach-California. It will then and passes through North America, stopping in Georgia and then Florida. The next stops will be in New Jersey, Montreal and Washington. It will then make a final stop in Texas before proceeding to House of Drift- Iriwande Speedway; this will be in October.
Many car enthusiasts enjoy drifting. This is a great way to have fun while driving and therefore completely enjoy driving. For those who are wannabe car enthusiasts, here is the simplest definition of drifting; it is a style of driving that involves using the throttle, clutch, brakes, steering input and gear shifting in order to over-steer the car while maneuvering between turns. The bottom line for drifting is to have fun! It does not matter whether you are doing it at a huge competition or just on your own. It is exciting for the driver if he can negotiate a track while the car is completely sideways.
There are two great reasons why many enthusiastic drivers love to and really enjoy drifting. For many, the adrenaline rush that is brought about by being able to move around a track while the car is on its side and smoke coming from the rear tires, is all they enjoy. A more reasonable one is that the art is a great way to learn how to control a car safely at any speed.
Now the big question is what is the best car for drifting? Well, drifting needs a rear wheel drive car that has an engine that is powerful enough to easily break tire traction. As a JDM car enthusiast, you want to know what car is best for drifting. We however, all know that not all JDM cars are easily affordable and the thought of how much it may cost to change from your current car to one that is more suitable for drifting, makes most of us just forget about ever owning a car that we can drift in. This should however, not be the case.
