Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) has been in existence since 1993 thanks to people like Roy Richter, Bob Hedman, Phil Weiand and a few others. Currently, it consists of about six thousand three hundred and eighty companies from all over the world. It brings together aftermarket manufacturers, OEM -original equipment manufacturers, car dealers, media, equipment distributors, retailers, restoration specialists and installers. The SEMA show is usually held at the Las Vegas Convention Center. It is the Association’s largest event. This annually held show is one of the largest shows that happen in Vegas in terms of the numbers that turn up for the event. There are usually about twelve sections for the displays; those who attend are provided with educational seminars, networking opportunities, product demonstrations, special events and so much more. Each year, the show becomes better than the previous year’s. The recently held 2015 SEMA show proved to be the worldwide premier trade event for specialty automotive products. It brought the brightest minds in the automotive industry as well as the best products together in one place. The show attracted over one hundred thousand leaders of industries from about one hundred countries in different parts of the world. It provided them with unlimited opportunities to make profit in different markets, these markets include; the automotive markets, Sport Utility Vehicle(SUV) and truck market, Recreational Vehicle (RV) market and powersports. There were very many attendees at the convention. Reliable sources reported that there were roughly slightly more than sixty thousand international and domestic buyers present at the event. This was the place where you could find all the people who love flashy cars as well as models that have been highly modified beyond recognition. I am talking about such cars like the ‘Rusty Slammington’_ (the name clearly suggests a lot) by Stanceworks which is a BMW 5-Series E28 with a rat-rod style. Various car manufacturers refused to be left behind, they tried their best to impress those present with out-of-the-world conceptual car builds. There were very interesting vehicle with the All-wheel drive Challenger by Dodge, Ultimate Utility Vehicle by Toyota and MX-5 Speedster models from Mazda being among the very outstanding ones.
As usual, the event was not made open to the general public but was maintained as a trade-only event. Those who were lucky to participate had to have registered themselves as manufacturers, media, exhibitor or buyer.

Japanese Modified Car Culture has only swelled in international popularity since its humble beginnings in the 70’s, however, JDM in films has simply exploded. Hollywood and film sets have always used cars as eye candy for movies. They are an instant upgrade for films, inspiring a new generation of JDM enthusiast. The fourth installment of Fast and Furious (Tokyo Drift) Hollywood franchise sparked many fans interest for cool Japanese modifications and speed, provoking more movie production sets to feature the JDM industry’s hottest rides on the streets. For those who desire more authentic films on JDM cars, check out Japanese movies such as Drift and Drift 2. JDM is not a fad nor is it a hobby...it is an ever growing and expanding lifestyle adopted by the millions worldwide!
For a real car enthusiast, driving a highly modified vehicle is the in thing. In fact, the more the modifications, the more the fun. JDM car owners just adore their brand. They want to have the cars with most latest modifications. This is not just for show off (of course this is a good reason too) but they consider it classy and the best way to fit in. Who wouldn’t want to have the car that everybody else is talking about with so much excitement and using owe-inspired words to describe? It is the sense of prestige derived from driving what everyone all over the world would want to own. Sadly, some people somewhere are all about depriving JDM car owners and drivers the privilege to drive their high class machines in peace. They just won’t stop picking on them from time to time for all the wrong reasons. Those who have had such experiences tell the stories and even if you own no such car, you feel for them. These great enemies of our highly esteemed motor owners are the traffic officers. These cops have been termed by the victims of their unscrupulous behavior as rude, uncultured among many other unpleasant words. I do not know exactly what you think but I feel that they definitely have the right to feel this way about the cops. Their reaction is justified, if you ask me. Of course we all have heard of the rules and regulations for what is legal and what is illegal. We also know about the black market and grey market where the grey one refers to cars that were not made within but have been purchase through the normally acceptable ways and the black referring to the illegal ones. There is (NHTSA) The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration which works under DOT – the Department of Transportation whose role in this is to set the standard features for every car. Then there is the well-known EPA- the Environmental Protection Agency which is responsible for dictating emission regulations your car has to meet. However much JDM owners do not like these regulations, the fact that one is driving around without fear means that their car is not illegal. They say that they have no problem with being rightfully pulled over or arrested but being wrongfully picked on does not go down well with them. Being pulled over for absurd reasons such as obstruction of view because of OEM trunk spoiler; sometimes because your car is apparently too low; your car has no model or make emblems. Some even feel that they are being targeted because of the car they are driving. For sure nobody likes being pulled over so many times for visual inspections, repeated measurement of headlights from ground and tint checks. What is more annoying for our JDM owners is the fact that someone with a different car model can pass without being questioned then you get pulled over for an exhaust check! They feel that they have had enough of this and they feel like it is high time that it came to an end. Nobody is insane enough to drive an incredibly expensive car that has not been legalized. In case you find yourself pulled over for these and any other reasons, do not be rude to the officers. Do as they ask you to and do not obstruct them. If there is at all nothing wrong you were doing, they will only waste some of your time doing their unnecessary checks and then let you go.
